On a wet and blustery Sunday afternoon, we were invited to a friends house for a winters lunch in Lasham, Hampshire. The arrangement we have is that Alex does the dessert and supplies the wines and we supply the main course and starter. This particular day coincided with John’s 85th Birthday so it was important to get the menu right and ensure we all had a fabulous time. John is lactose intolerant so that made the menu choice a challenge. However, if you think about the outcome in advance – not a big deal!
We have known John and Alex Bennigsen for over twenty years. We have shared many a grand time around a table with some great food, fabulous wines ( thanks to Alex) and some great conversation. This is the venue where quick Charades was perfected many years ago.
The menu worked really well. It is sometimes a nice change to move away from the traditional Sunday lunch and experiment with flavours and textures. It was agreed by all that the food choice was a very pleasant change from the norm.
Winter Menu with Freinds View All
For this Winters Menu, Alex spoiled us. Kir Royal on arrival. A Chateau Montrachet with the starter, a beautiful red burgundy with the lamb. Of course, with dessert, we had to have more champagne. A real spoiling and memorable lunch. All wines are available from Naked Wines.
