Tropical Tease | South Florida Sunshine Cocktail |

For a true taste of summer at any time, try this Florida Tropical Tease Cocktail. It has all the flavours of sunny warm Florida in one refreshing drink.  When I was making this I wanted to incorporate the tropical tastes of my home state into a refreshing cocktail.  It is delicious and so easy to drink. Perhaps the Florida Tropical Tease is too easy to drink.

I made this for my lovely wife’s upcoming birthday. I wanted to make her a couple of special cocktails, the South Florida Tropical Tease and Refreshing Cucumber Cocktail were the two we created.  Making my own flavoured vodka for this was the first choice.  It is very easy to do, but note it takes some planning.  To make flavoured vodka, any alcohol really you simply put the stuff you want the flavour to come from in the spirit and let it sit.  Seriously, that’s it the longer it sits the more flavour, allow between 2 weeks and 3 months to really infuse flavour.

Our warm Floridian winters produce some of our best fruits, one being the carambola or star fruit.  You may have seen them, they look just like a star.  It is heavily perfumed, and very sweet when ripe.  One of the folks I work with has a carambola tree in his yard and brought in bags of these fruits.  I took a bunch and made a carambola vodka from it.  Fear not, if you don’t have easy access to this fruit, use pineapple vodka. Also easy to make or even easier to buy.
