What would summer in the UK be without Wimbledon Pimms? We love to attend the Championship or gather with our friends around the TV and share the excitement of the game. Murray, Federer, Williams as well as Garbiñe Muguruza. It doesn’t really matter who wins as we all have a favourite. The best part of the event is by sharing traditional Wimbledon food and drinks. We try to attend regularly and when we do we consume litres of Wimbledon Pimm’s, Champagne and of course the compulsory Strawberries and Cream. The final weekend is always an edge of your seat experience, with much cheering.
We love Wimbledon Pimms but have put our own twist on the traditional recipe.
Wimbledon Pimms
We love Wimbledon Pimms but have put our own twist on the traditional recipe. You will need a HighBall Glass and plenty of Ice, but we love the large wine goblet for a flair!
Ingredients
- 50 MLS PIMM’S No.1
- 150 mls Prosecco
- 1 Large handful Mint, orange, strawberries Cucumber to garnish and ice The more the merrier!
Instructions
Pile all the ingredients in a large wine glass, mix, and sip. Best make a jugful, you never know which of your friends will turn up at the sound of the ice tray leaving your freezer.
Notes
At Wimbledon a few years ago one of the catering team told us why their strawberries tasted so good. They always serve them at room temperature. This makes the flavours more intense as they are inhibited when served straight out of the fridge. Personally I like to dust them with freshly ground pepper and a dash of balsamic!
While Wimbledon traditions include a strict dress code for competitors and Royal patronage at our house, Pimm’s and Strawberries and cream loosen the spirits. Recently, we were able to chat with the catering team. we will share some secrets we learn as well. Just please, don’t tell anyone! Enjoy the Pimms and this year’s championship, we know we will.
Wine Matching
We found this great Prosecco from Naked Wines. Sacchetto Prosecco Col de L’Utia Brut 2017. It is very fruity, green apple, pear and acacia scents it is delicate and fine, fresh and fizzy for all the occasion. Perfect for celebrating with friends the whole year round.
